About Deal Clarity
Car paperwork can be difficult to understand, especially when the vehicle price, financing, fees, optional products, and trade-in numbers are all presented together on one page. Deal Clarity was built to make that paperwork easier to understand before a buyer agrees to the deal.
What the product does
You upload a dealership worksheet, buyer’s order, financing offer, screenshot, or PDF. Deal Clarity organizes what is on the page: the vehicle price, dealer fees, taxes and registration, optional add-ons, the financing terms, and the trade-in. Each item is explained in plain English, alongside a question you can ask the dealership about it.
How the analysis works
The document is read to pull out the numbers it contains. Those numbers are then organized into categories and compared with the other figures on the same document — for example, whether the monthly payment matches the APR, loan length, and amount financed that were written down.
Where a value has to be calculated or compared to outside reference information, it is labeled as an estimate rather than presented as a fact from your paperwork. If we read something incorrectly, you can correct the value inside the report and the analysis updates.
What information it uses
Primarily the documents you upload and any numbers you enter yourself. Some sections also reference publicly available information such as state fee and tax references, or recall data. Reference information carries a source and a date so you can check it.
What it is not
Deal Clarity is an independent information tool. It is not a dealership, lender, broker, insurer, law firm, or government agency, and it does not negotiate on your behalf. It does not guarantee that a dealership will change its price, and it is not a substitute for legal, tax, or financial advice.
Questions
If something in a report looks wrong, or you have a billing or refund question, please contact us. You can also read how uploaded documents are handled on the data handling page.
What Deal Clarity checks
Each category below is pulled from the document you upload and explained in plain English. Values we could not read directly are labeled as estimates.
Vehicle price
The price of the vehicle itself, kept separate from fees, taxes, and add-ons.
Dealer fees
Charges added by the dealership, such as documentation or preparation fees, listed one by one.
Optional add-ons
Products like paint protection, warranties, or VIN etching, and whether they appear optional.
Taxes and registration
Government charges such as sales tax, title, and registration, shown apart from dealer charges.
Financing terms
The APR, loan length, down payment, amount financed, and monthly payment as written on your document.
Trade-in
The trade value and any remaining loan balance, so you can see how the trade affects the deal.
Total estimated loan cost
An estimate of what the loan costs over its full term, based on the numbers on your quote.
Missing information
Numbers we could not find on the document, so you know what to ask the dealership for.
What Deal Clarity can — and can’t — tell you
We would rather set expectations before you pay than after.
What it can do
- Explain the charges written on your quote
- Point out unusual or optional items so you can ask about them
- Help you compare two or more written offers
- Explain financing terms such as APR, loan length, and total cost
- Help you prepare questions for the dealership
What it cannot do
- Guarantee a dealership will lower its price
- Guarantee any dealership will participate or respond
- Guarantee that every outside market estimate is perfectly current
- Replace a legal, tax, or financial professional
- Know anything that is not included in the documents you upload
Deal Clarity provides general information about your paperwork. It is not legal, tax, or financial advice, and you make the final decision.
